Craps Strategies

If you've ever been in any casino and you heard a large commotion, chances are it was happening around a craps table. Craps is by far the most exciting and fast-paced casino game in the world. With each roll the dice money can be made or lost. It is important for a new craps player to understand craps strategy in order to not be overwhelmed by the extremely fast action.

The most popular bet at a craps table is what is called the "pass line wager." This is simply a bet that the point will be rolled before a seven. The point is determined by what is called the "come-out roll." On a come out roll, all pass line wagers win if a seven or 11 is rolled and lose if a two, three or 12 is rolled. Any other number becomes the point. After the point is established, players will have the option to increase the amount of the bet on the pass line. These are called "odds bets." What many players (even experienced ones) don't know is that these odds bets are the best bet that a casino offers. In fact, these bets are so good that they do not even contain an edge for the house. It's for this reason, that you should always take full advantage of your odds bets.

In stark contrast, the bets in the middle of the table are some of the worst bets in a casino. Specifically the hard way bets and the single roll bets. Thankfully, the minimum wager for these bets is often much lower, meaning that it will not cost as much to bet on these should you choose to.

Like in any other form of gambling, the most important aspect of craps strategy is managing your bankroll. Remember, no matter how many bets you have on the table all it takes is a single seven to wipe them all out. Because seven is the most frequently rolled number on a craps table (occurring one in six times) it is important to make sure that you are playing with enough money to continue playing even after it does. Otherwise, you could be finding yourself sitting on the sidelines while everyone else is having fun.
