Blackjack

Goal of the Game

The goal of the game is that you want to reach a hand value that is closer to 21 than the hand value of the bank, without going over 21. (BUST)

In Blackjack, the cards are valued as follows:

  • Ace: You will decide whether your ace counts 1 or 11
  • ??Images : 10 Points (Jack, Queen, King)
  • Other cards : are valued as indicated (2 through 10)

You and every player at your table receive 2 cards by the bank. The bank receives one card face up and one card face down. (Face down: hole card). Once the cards are dealt, the game proceeds around the table. Each player in turn now indicates to the dealer how he wishes to play his hand. After each player has completed his hand (STAND = no longer wishes to draw a further card) the dealer completes his hand.

Winner or Loser?

All players that have exceeded 21 points with the cards in their hand (BUSTED) have lost.

You have won if you have not exceeded 21 points and

  • the bank has exceeded 21 points or
  • you have more points then the bank or
  • you have a Blackjack (21 points with 2 cards) and the bank doesn’t

Other players at the table are of no concern to you. You are playing only against the hand of the bank. The rules of the dealer are dictated and leave no room for decisions based on your cards.

Players Choices

Before the dealer deals cards to the players and himself, the players must place their bets. Now you receive 2 cards face down while the bank receives 1 open card. At this point you have to make the following decisions:

  1. Insurance? (Does the Bank hold an Ace?)
  2. Double down? (Have you already reached 9, 10 or 11 points with your first two cards?)
  3. Split? (Do your 2 cards have an identical value?)
  4. Hit or stand? (Do you wish to receive an additional card?)
